The LOTRO game servers will be brought down on Tuesday April 21 from 6:00AM – 12:00PM Eastern (-4 GMT) for an update to the game.
What about the Lothlorien reputation crafted item recipe crit trophies? Are they being added during the patch also? Or will they come in the next patch?
They are not in patch 2.

Lothlorien gift boxes never worked as intended, even on Bullroarer, if so is it possible to know what is their proper function?
They’re serving their ‘function’ but their loot table is wrong. On bullroarer they were too generous and on live they’re a bit stingy. I think the goal is something in between.

We won’t be able to run the “crafting” instances repeatedly anymore?

• We won’t be able to run the “crafting” instances repeatedly anymore? This change is far from pointless. The unexpected and rapid instance recycling that was occurring within the Resource Instances was a partial contributor to some of our server performance woes since Book 7′s launch. My assumption in regards to how our instances reset and the reality of how they reset were at odds. The content was quite popular but it’s popularity led to unanticipated side effects. This change is being implemented to help address those side effects. Yes – it is frustrating and saddening that changes had to be made to content that many people were enjoying but those changes were made to help ensure the stability of the game. One aspect of these changes, which does not appear to be included in the patch notes is that the Kill Boss quests are exclusive. This means that you will only be able to have one of the six active at a given time. The quests will be versioned and should be removed from your Quest log when you log in after the patch. (Scenario)
• The turtle raid you already know is coming next week. As for any actions taken. We do not discuss diciplinary actions. Ever.
• Gift Boxes. Despite some opinions to the contrary these haven’t been dropping the correct items from day one. Even on Bullroarer (especially on Bullroarer) they had the wrong loot. Like a slot machine always set to pay max winnings. So while it was great loot, it was still broken (broken in your favor is still broken). The live boxes are also not dropping the correct loot. The question of when will they be fixed is one of priorities. Right now the number one priority of every member of the team is returning the game servers to a reliable and stable state. We know the gift boxes are important to you and we will address them as soon as we get the stability issue under control. But I think everyone would agree that server stability is of higher priority. Imagine if we had fixed them and you got the loot you wanted only to lose it in a roll back due to server issues.  (Sapience)

Gameplay

• The Quest Guide system is now out of Beta! The system will automatically be turned on for all players by default. If you would not like to use the system, you can toggle the system off in the options panel under the UI settings page.

Quests and Epic Story

• If you had Volume II, Book 2, Chapter 4, ‘Enemies in the Ever Dark’ underway in your quest journal, it has been removed to correct an issue with the quest automatically completing before you return to the bestower.

Raids and Instances

• The Strange Happenings raid is once again available. Turtle is back on the menu!
• We have made a number of changes to the resource instances. This required they be versioned. If you currently have these underway they will be removed from your quest journal during the update.

• “Kill Boss” quests must be underway in order to enter their associated instances.
• “Kill Boss” quests can no longer be cancelled.
• “Kill Boss” quests now have a 1 hour failure timer attached. If the quest fails, there is a 2 hour retry cooldown before you can accept the quest again.
• All “Kill 20” and “Collect” quests now require the appropriate “Kill Boss” quest to be active in your quest journal before they are made available.
• “Kill Boss” quests are exclusive and players will only be able to have one of the six active at any given time.

General

• Several changes have been made to address server performance and stability.

The Turtle doesn’t cause any dread, fear or disease. The raid boss, Nornuan, hits with an unremovable raid-wide Acid DoT that stacks over time and another DoT that is applied individually. The individual DoT is a bleed out and the trick is if it stays for more than 30 seconds it does more damage over time and the duration refreshes. The DoT on the tank will fall off if you go the duration without getting hit again.

The key is to bounce aggro + dps fast from one tank to another so the DoT will not get to the point where the damage cannot be healed. If you do this multiple times throughout the fight then healing the tank isn’t a problem. Gushing Wound is applied to the raid throughout the fight. Gushing Wound wounds for 80/160/240/320 etc Acid damage every 3 seconds and is only removed/reset by dying and rezzing. Profuse Wound goes for 50/500/750/1000/2000/3000 and resets to 250 if the 50 second counter runs out. As always, you need healers, champions or guardians, also Loremaster for power.

The loot is pretty nice: First Age weapons, radiance gear coins, Nornuan’s head trophy, Nanu’s hiding place. It’s a pet turtle that walks around in your yard.

• Characters who logged into Book 7 with 0 or 1 maximum morale and no skills have been fixed.
• A server stability Issue has been addressed.

New Player Experience

• The ending instances for the new player experience in Archet and Ered Luin are now solo-only. This is in line with the intent for these instances and more importantly addresses an issue where players in a fellowship could sometimes be left in a bad state after the instance was completed.

Quests

• We’ve addressed an issue where the quests in Volume2, Book 7, Chapter 3 and Chapter 8 instances would not advance for some players.

To start off there are 6 crafting instances separated in pairs of 2, {based on the crafting materials you can get} in 3 different location in Moria. I myself was confused how this worked at first but I figured it out with a bit of trial & error!
At each pair of crafting instances there are 3 NPCs. Two have 3 quests each for the door/instance they’re standing next too as well as the Barter screen {on the left} you’ll see below in the 1st image! Each quest you successfully complete will reward you with 1 [Iron Garrison Resource Token]! Overall; you can earn 3 {IGRTs} from each of the 6 CIs for a total of 18 every 24 hrs.

The 3rd NPC only has the Barter screen {on the right} of which you can trade 3 [Iron Garrison Resource Tokens] in for 1 [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] {Which are exceptionally valuable!} If you choose to trade the IGRTs in from each CI, you can earn a total of 6 [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] every 24 hrs.

I’ve gotten alot of whispers/PMs about how the timers work so here goes. There are 18 daily quests, {as in every 24 hrs} that you can do, which reward what I explained above! Also when you enter each CI, you’ll get a msg that said instance will reset in so many days/hrs/min of which they do 2 times a week. These timers have nothing to do with the quests, but everything to do with the crafting nodes. The nodes only reset when the instances do, but you can still re-run the CIs the next day and complete the quests again, but the nodes won’t be there whether you harvest them or not. So if you run the instances and don’t harvest them and then leave, when you return the next day they will have de-spawned and you have to wait until it resets before they will appear again!
One last thing you’ll discover is that each time you enter or run one of these CIs, the enemies will randomly change and so will the bosses! Of the 12 times I’ve run these CIs so far I’ve encountered the Skergrim, Orc/Goblins, Merroval, and each either had a repeat boss, or a similar looking one with a different name!

As described above; there are 3 quests for each CI and of them 2 are “Kill 20 Enemies” & “Kill the Boss”. The 3rd quest is a “Gathering X# of Items” of which you can pick up off the ground and/or drop from enemies!

The 2 Killing Quests reward Iron Garrison Guard Reputation!
The 1 Gathering Quest rewards Iron Garrison Miners Reputation!

Its now been pretty much confirmed that none of the enemies in any of the 6 CIs give reputation for the Guards or Miners…only the quests!

As a finale; a recap of everything above:

• There are 6 Crafting Instances;{CIs} with a total of 18 quests combined!
• Each CI can be run once every 24hrs!
• Crafting Nodes will re-spawn/reset every 3 days!
• Not mentioned above, but quite a bit of Tailor; [Extraordinary Hides] will drop also!
• You can earn [18 Iron Garrison Resource Tokens] every 24 hours!
• You can trade in those 18 IGRT and earn [6 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] every 24 hrs!

All the Barter Rewards inside Caras Galadhon; almost all of them but mainly the really good Teal Jewelry, Galadhrim Horse, Legendary Boxes, etc all require a minimum of [30-35 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] as well as [50 Lothlorien Silver Branch] each. So now you can see how valuable those [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] are, considering you can only earn a maximum of 6 every 24 hrs. One thing to mention that Turbine did to get us started off on a good note, when you first gain access to Caras Galadhon there are many quests inside that you can earn [18 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] from, but only 1 time! Afterwards you can only earn them from doing the CIs…

…and the [Lothlorien Silver Branches], can be earned from the quests all over Lothlorien in increments of 1-3 over and over from original 1-time only & repeat quests…

Here is a list of all the best barter items that require [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] & [Lothlorien Silver Branch] as payment to acquire! There are several more like recipes, potions, housing items, clothing, instruments & cloaks.

All of those however, only require the [Lothlorien Silver Branch] which are rather easy to acquire in large amounts over a much shorter period of time than the [Lothlorien Gold Leaf]!

Here are all the quests that you can earn [Lothlorien Silver Branch] from; {a total of 31 every 24hrs!}

At least I’m pretty sure this is all of them, but I could be wrong…and as far as the 4 Lothlorien Preparations quests go; after the event is done and we get the counter to 600/600 I don’t know if they’ll still be available or maybe even be replaced by new quests. Who knows but if they do end, thats a total of 12 coins you won’t be able to get anymore!

• Very strange shadows and lighting issues can present themselves here on Very High and Ultra High graphical settings.

The Shire

• The Quarry – Greenfields Biter does not path correctly unless you are in melee range.

Items

• Gwathnor’s Doom shoulders causes a drinking sound to be heard when a debuff is removed.
• Keys you’ve already obtained and applied on your Key Ring can still be rolled for.
• Many of the Lothlorien barter wrist, ring, and earring items all share the same icon.
• The Shield ‘Heyew-turas’ is held upside-down.
• When a legendary item is deconstructed at the item’s level cap, all relics will be returned to the player. Deconstructing an item at maximum level currently does not communicate this. (added 3/17)

Spring Festival

• The accomplishment for the deed ‘Brighter Days’ incorrectly appears under the Class accomplishment tab.

Travel

• The Stable-master in Combe cannot swift-travel to Michel Delving. Out of spite he has denied you the ability as well.

Miscellaneous

The vignette video for Volume II: Book 7 is not an available option from “Movie Library” in Character Select. This movie will play as you complete Volume II: Book7.

The downloadable updater will download the files needed to update your client to Volume II, Book 7: Leaves of Lorien. After you’ve updated your client, when the servers go live with Volume II, Book 7 your client will apply the patch and update itself.

Additional notes:

• This patch will only work for those whose clients are current as of today (March 13).
• New players will need to install the game and patch through the normal patching process before applying this update!
• TDM users do not need to install this update. Your client will automatically patch on launch day.
• This file will ONLY patch the North America/AU/NZ version of the LOTRO client. If you try to apply it to the EU version, you’ll get an error message.
