I’m sure there are many ways to beat Gurvand to a bloody pulp, but I’m just going to post the way my fellow kinsmen in Animus and I fight him. Gurvand is 63 level Nemesis (Ancient Evil).

Suggested classes:

Guardian = Tanking (shocking I know)
Champion = Clobbers and back up tank
Captain = Healing
Burg = Green CJs
DPS class
Healing class

Your Guardian, Captain, and Healer will spend the entire fight with the goal of keeping the tank alive.
The Champion, Burg, and DPS class will spend the fight switching back and forth between Gurvand and the adds.

Fight Mechanics:

Debuff: Every minute Gurvand will stack a nasty Debuff on you. (+20% Incomming Damage) After a while your healers will start having a problem keeping your tank up.

Darkness: The whole fight is in the dark. It slows your running speed and your skills. Using this strategy you shouldn’t be running around so you won’t notice the run speed decrease. It will slow your healers down quite a bit. So, you should bring some morale pots since they will be focusing on the tank.

Reflect Buff: During the fight Gurvand will get a reflect buff. (It no longer looks like a question mark) It is purple with a shadow in it. When you see the reflect buff, don’t hit Gurvand or you will take heavy damage. Your Champion should still clobber.

Adds: 4 Overseers will be waiting at the begining of the fight in the 4 corners. They are ranged and have around 3k morale. They have a very quick respawn. They do not dot that much damage.

The Fight:

Step 1 = Start the fight and run to the left and behind the pillar and start smacking Gurvand around. (Don’t turn on the pillar light…or you’ll lose HM) By standing behind the pillar you do two things. First, if everyone is behind the pillar the adds will run in close to you. This way you don’t waste time running back and forth through the dark. Another good thing about the pillar position is this keeps the tank’s back to the wall. With the Champ grinding on adds he may miss a few clobbers and this will prevent your tank from being knocked off of the cliff.

Step 2 = While the Captain, Guardian, and Healer stabalize on Gurvand the others need to take down the 4 adds.

Step 3 = Once the adds are down. Everyone should be on Gurvand…watching for his reflect and clobbering his inductions. Burg CJs should be saved for emergencies in order to heal the entire fellowship.

Step 4 = The adds will start respawning quickly. The real trick to this fight is knowing when to fight them and when to let them hit on you. If you try to take down the adds immediatly when they respawn you will find yourself getting no time to DPS Gurvand due to his reflect buff. What you want to do is DPS Gurvand when you can. When his reflect buff turns on, you should use that time to DPS the adds. Obviously the adds will go after your captain or healer and you need to prevent that in order for this to work. Have your Champion drop Raging Blades to grab agro. Engrage, taunts, etc should be used as needed.

Step 5 = Soon you will find that your increased damage debuff is at 60%+ and your healers will start to have problems keeping the tank up. At some point your tank will die. This is good. You want this to happen. Have your Champion (knowing in advance of the tanks demise) be ready to taunt Gurvand. Rez your tank. Now the tank’s debuff will be reset to zero. Your Guardian grabs threat on Gurvand again. Your healers can now keep your tank up for the rest of the fight.

Step 6 = Rinse and repeat.

Step 7 = Loot

Bracelet of the Moon

Floral Earring

Gurvand’s Head

Maur-targed

The overseers can NOT be mezzed in the final boss fight.

The Turtle doesn’t cause any dread, fear or disease. The raid boss, Nornuan, hits with an unremovable raid-wide Acid DoT that stacks over time and another DoT that is applied individually. The individual DoT is a bleed out and the trick is if it stays for more than 30 seconds it does more damage over time and the duration refreshes. The DoT on the tank will fall off if you go the duration without getting hit again.

The key is to bounce aggro + dps fast from one tank to another so the DoT will not get to the point where the damage cannot be healed. If you do this multiple times throughout the fight then healing the tank isn’t a problem. Gushing Wound is applied to the raid throughout the fight. Gushing Wound wounds for 80/160/240/320 etc Acid damage every 3 seconds and is only removed/reset by dying and rezzing. Profuse Wound goes for 50/500/750/1000/2000/3000 and resets to 250 if the 50 second counter runs out. As always, you need healers, champions or guardians, also Loremaster for power.

The loot is pretty nice: First Age weapons, radiance gear coins, Nornuan’s head trophy, Nanu’s hiding place. It’s a pet turtle that walks around in your yard.

We would like to thank Reyph, for Nanu’s hiding place screenshot, greedo80 and Hellfanger.

This Spring Festival will feature all of the games and good cheer that have been present in the past, but this year brings a sizeable new landmark to the festival grounds in the Horsefields, courtesy of a very talented gardener on the World Team. If you are new to the game or unfamiliar with the festival content, try to make it to the Shire’s Greenfields for the Bullroarer celebrations, as well as the usual stomping grounds for our seasonal events: Hobbiton, Thorin’s Hall, Duillond, and the Horsefields.

The Hedge Maze is intended to bring players together for a new challenge that will take place in a more close-quartered public instance than we’ve seen previously in the game. There are chickens to be caught, Elves to be scolded, signs to be posted, records to be beat, and a very sinister surprise at the center of it all. I highly recommend joining the Inn League this year if you have not done so already.

Tips and Tricks

For most mazes, sticking to one wall is a good tactic to ensure you don’t get lost. It works for this one, and sticking to the left wall is the more efficient path.

You can do multiple (repeatable) quests at the horsefields in bree inside the maze to earn leaves to barter. (*note* you can only do 1 quest at a time inside the maze, IE, pick up one, go complete it, turn it in, then you are able to pick up a different quest for the maze.)

Inside of Bree, you will find an NPC to do a flower quest.. the quest sends you to the Shire, Celondim, Bree proper, and outside bree. Also once you complete the flower quest you can do the repeatable one to turn in flowers for gift boxes in Bree.

The Shire has the drinking quests…. and by the way, there are no barter NPCs in Shire, Thorins, or Dulliond/Celondim for the festival.

lso in Brockenborings in the Shire there is a series of quests related to the Bullroarer: gathering clover, running to Stock, and then walking a fence.

he Maze reward is a ‘white rose circlet’.

A new notification system was also implemented for this update, made to announce much of our expanding content going forward. In-game mail will be sent to those of you who log in during certain events; we want to alert players who might not read the forums regularly that there is a new feature in Middle-earth, or that a limited-time-only event may be running. If you’re worried about missing the festival, you’ll be happy to know that you’ll be getting an informal invitation in the mail from an overworked Party Planner from Hobbiton.

The main idea of this guide is to introduce players with some of the new things from the latest update. In fact, one of the challenges you as a player must face will be proving to the Galadhrim that you yourself are not a danger to the Golden Wood.

The Trust of the Galadhrim

How then can you gain safe passage beneath the leaves of Lothlórien? There are several ways you can prove yourself to the Elves and gain limited access to Lórien.

Completing Quests from Echad Andestel

Located west of Lothlórien, the camp of Echad Andestel in Nanduhirion is home to merchants and wanderers on this side of the mountains. Several Elves are visiting the camp for the moment. Each of them can be persuaded to trust you if you aid them with their concerns. As the threat of the Orcs grows you will be able to continue aiding them with their efforts.

Completing Quests from Talan Haldir

South of Echad Andestel, the Elf Haldir maintains his vigil atop a flet, or platform, among the trees. Among his allies there are Hadroneth, who wishes for you to discourage the Orcs from establishing more outposts in Nanduhirion, the Dimrill Dale, and Maethoron. Aiding the Elves in these matters and others will encourage them to give you their trust.

Completion of Volume II Book 6

There is one more method of gaining enough trust to be allowed beyond the borders of Lothlórien, and you may have already done it. If you have personally aided the Lady Galadriel over the course of Book 6: The Shadowy Abyss and have gazed into the Mirror of Galadriel at the end of Chapter 9, you will be trusted enough by the Elves of Lórien to enter the woods.

Once you have earned the trust of the Elves through a combination of these methods, and speak with a Galadhrim Lookout just outside the border, he will notify the hidden archers that you are friendly and you will be permitted inside the Golden Wood.

I’ve gotten alot of whispers/PMs about how the timers work so here goes. There are 18 daily quests, {as in every 24 hrs} that you can do, which reward what I explained above! Also when you enter each CI, you’ll get a msg that said instance will reset in so many days/hrs/min of which they do 2 times a week. These timers have nothing to do with the quests, but everything to do with the crafting nodes. The nodes only reset when the instances do, but you can still re-run the CIs the next day and complete the quests again, but the nodes won’t be there whether you harvest them or not. So if you run the instances and don’t harvest them and then leave, when you return the next day they will have de-spawned and you have to wait until it resets before they will appear again!
One last thing you’ll discover is that each time you enter or run one of these CIs, the enemies will randomly change and so will the bosses! Of the 12 times I’ve run these CIs so far I’ve encountered the Skergrim, Orc/Goblins, Merroval, and each either had a repeat boss, or a similar looking one with a different name!

As described above; there are 3 quests for each CI and of them 2 are “Kill 20 Enemies” & “Kill the Boss”. The 3rd quest is a “Gathering X# of Items” of which you can pick up off the ground and/or drop from enemies!

The 2 Killing Quests reward Iron Garrison Guard Reputation!
The 1 Gathering Quest rewards Iron Garrison Miners Reputation!

Its now been pretty much confirmed that none of the enemies in any of the 6 CIs give reputation for the Guards or Miners…only the quests!

As a finale; a recap of everything above:

There are 6 Crafting Instances;{CIs} with a total of 18 quests combined!

Each CI can be run once every 24hrs!

Crafting Nodes will re-spawn/reset every 3 days!

Not mentioned above, but quite a bit of Tailor; [Extraordinary Hides] will drop also!

You can earn [18 Iron Garrison Resource Tokens] every 24 hours!

You can trade in those 18 IGRT and earn [6 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] every 24 hrs!

All the Barter Rewards inside Caras Galadhon; almost all of them but mainly the really good Teal Jewelry, Galadhrim Horse, Legendary Boxes, etc all require a minimum of [30-35 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] as well as [50 Lothlorien Silver Branch] each. So now you can see how valuable those [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] are, considering you can only earn a maximum of 6 every 24 hrs. One thing to mention that Turbine did to get us started off on a good note, when you first gain access to Caras Galadhon there are many quests inside that you can earn [18 Lothlorien Gold Leaf] from, but only 1 time! Afterwards you can only earn them from doing the CIs…

…and the [Lothlorien Silver Branches], can be earned from the quests all over Lothlorien in increments of 1-3 over and over from original 1-time only & repeat quests…
Just checked all the Repeatable Quests in Lothlorien; all of which are on 24hr cool-downs. You can earn [31 Lothlorien Silver Branch] every 24hrs! There are also originally a gain of some [70-85+ Lothlorien Silver Branch] from non-repeatable, 1st time quests!

Here is a list of all the best barter items that require [Lothlorien Gold Leaf] & [Lothlorien Silver Branch] as payment to acquire! There are several more like recipes, potions, housing items, clothing, instruments & cloaks.

All of those however, only require the [Lothlorien Silver Branch] which are rather easy to acquire in large amounts over a much shorter period of time than the [Lothlorien Gold Leaf]!

Who knows but if they do end, thats a total of 12 coins you won’t be able to get anymore!

This guide is intended to detail the various methods of earning reputation points with the Inn League faction. The Inn League reputation area can be found inside the Bird & Baby Inn, which can be found in Michel Delving, Shire, Eriador.

The information found here was originally discovered on the Roheryn preview server. I have since confirmed the information below is live on all servers as of 8/1/2008. As it stands now, you can only earn reputation during one of the quarterly festivals.

In order to unlock the ability to earn reputation with the Inn League, you must first complete the Inn League reputation starter quest. This quest can be found at the Party Tree just north of Hobbiton in the Shire, but must be obtained during a Festival event. You must complete this quest in order to unlock anything else listed below. This is a repeatable quest. The first time you complete it you earn 10000 rep points and the Inn League Member title. This immediately advances you from Neutral to Acquaintance, with 0/20000 points for Friend status in the Inn League faction. The second time you complete the starter quest you earn 500 rep points. The repeat of this quest appears to be on a static reset at Midnight each real world day (much like the fishing point earning cap).

There are several ways to earn reputation with the Inn League. These methods are detailed below. Without repeating the starter initiation quest, the maximum amount of reputation you can earn with the Inn League as of the Summer Festival is 14500/20000 points on the way to Friend status.

Deeds

There are 4 deeds discovered so far.

Inn League Member

You must complete the Inn League Initiation quest. This is found at the party tree during a festival. The reward is 10,000 Rep Points and the title Inn League Member. It is the prerequisite to any other Inn League related quests/deeds.

Quests

You can find quest bestowers throughout Eriador that are associated with the Inn League (Inn League Member displays under their name). All of these quests seem to be fetching quests where they ask you to obtain a specific brew from a specific Inn within 1 hour. None of them seem to be repeatable. The total amount of Reputation you can earn from these 11 quests, as of the Summer Festival, is 10,900 points. Here is the info I have been able to obtain thus far.

Note: Minimum Levels are from the Lorebook quest descriptions.

Quest Drinks by Inn/Tavern/Vinter

To make the questing easier, it would make sense to purchase the brews you will need for the quests ahead of time; say, while you’re completing your deed.

Here is the list of brews/ales/wines/ciders/etc. you’ll want to have on hand when you do your questing. As more quests are discovered I will add to this list as well.

(Remember, if you’re doing your deed at the same time, you’ll need to purchase the following items twice so you can drink one and save one.)
