Turbine has announced today new The Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood digital expansion. Siege of Mirkwood will expand the online world of Middle-earth where players will join forces to press further eastward into the dark, foreboding and treacherous forest of Mirkwood and take part in the epic conclusion to Volume II of The Lord of the Rings Online.

The Secret Societies of The Secret World
As a teaser for PAX 2009, Funcom has revealed three secret societies: The Illuminati, The Dragon, and The Templars. The Secret World uses no classes or levels,and gives you complete freedom when creating and developing your character.
The secret societies are integral to The Secret World. Players must eventually pick a side in the conflict. By revealing the three societies – and at the same time keeping some exciting new features under wraps – we provide players with the opportunity to dig deeper into the conspiracies and urban legends, and to learn more about these famous secret societies, before making their final decision when the game launches.

Champions Online is down
For the bigger portion of the day, newly launched superhero MMO Champions Online has been down. For all of you looking for information here’s the word from official sources:
Champions Online is currently undergoing emergency maintenance to the game and website. Players will be unable to access the website, forums, and game at this time. I know that we’ve been down for a good portion of the day. But we have numerous groups addressing the issues. We’re sorry for the inconvenience today and I’ll update you as I know more.
We’ll keep you updated as information becomes available.

The Secret World – Second Trailer
Norwegian studio Funcom has released new trailer for its third massively multiplayer online game The Secret World. The game takes place in a modern-day setting of our near-future version of the world. The new trailer, much like the previous one doesn’t reveal much about the game.
